The summer has been so busy with family matters and trips that my butterfly garden has gone untouched – a lot! I love it and think it is so beautiful and feel the need to show it off proudly to everyone. However, in its current state I am a bit embarrassed to show it and feel guilty on my lack of caring. It is a less than outstanding example of love and attention and a wonderful reminder that "we reap what we sow".

Shake the Sugar Tree: Soft Skills
Soft skills are really the hard skills… how few of us have them mastered (ha! at my pun on words there). Most of the time you hear this term used in the work environment and we do not think to turn it towards our personal life. Each of us could benefit on a brush up on how to implement them into serving our Masters.
“Soft skills” is a term relating to a collection of personal, positive attributes and competencies that enhance your relationships, job performance, and value to the market.

Shake the Sugar Tree: Feminine grace
Master is working on a piece with the three of us on how to be more ladylike with our speech and keeping us always in the mindset of our relationship. I can truthfully say that my Master loves all sides of a woman… from elegant to naughty. However, there is a time and place for things.

Shake the Sugar Tree: Know What your Master Expects of you
Even if you know your rules and any assignments given to you by your Master, you may not always know everything your Master expects of you. Every Master has unspoken expectations.

Shake the Sugar Tree: Speak No Ego and Be No Ego
To be more service-oriented, as a slave or part of a polyamorous family, we need to dump any self-importance we may have built up and remember that our value to our Master and family comes from the good things we make happen for them. We need to get out of the way of ourselves.

Shake the Sugar Tree: Becoming a Better you
What does it mean to become a better you? First, you need to understand that your Master wants you to become all that you can be. Second, it is imperative that you realize that your Master will do His part, but you must do your part as well. To become a better you, you must:
· Keep pressing forward.
· Be positive toward yourself.
· Develop better relationships.
· Form better habits.
· Embrace the place where you are.
· Develop your inner life.
· Stay passionate about life.
Take each one of the above and write about how you can take your Master’s desires and wishes of you and become a better you. The fears of not meeting up to those desires and wishes can be very scary. It takes courage to ask questions of yourself and to delve deeper into the whys of being a submissive and how your choices will help you become a better “you”. By following through on your list you have already accomplished part of the first item on list – smiles!

Shake the Sugar Tree: Are you Essential or Non-essential?
I work in a retail ecommerce environment in the Human Resources Department. All of the departments not associated with dealing directly with the customers are normally off the day of holidays or the day after with the exception of Black Friday. On Black Friday, we are required to have at least the bare minimal of staff working for part of the day while the departments dealing with Customer Service are needed the full day. Normally my team shows up on this day, after doing all of our early morning shopping, to encourage the team working with moral support or snacks to keep them motivated while functioning through one of the busiest days of the year.

Shake the Sugar Tree: Getting it "Just Right"
As a slave and with the desire to serve your Master, you may tend to be a perfectionist at heart and need to be sure that everything is perfect at all times. You get accomplishment from knowing that everything is “just right” for your Master and anyone visiting His home.

Shaking the Sugar Tree: Just Trust Me
In a very sincere voice with not a hint of arrogance or cockiness, He said, "Just trust Me." Those are the words we often hear in movies just before something bad happens. And yet we are asked to trust our Master on a daily basis with our dreams, fantasies, well being, etc. In a society where most tend to take control of their own lives, trusting one’s Master has become a clichĂ© rather than a life-changing attitude towards our submission. We say it, but do we really mean it? And what does trusting your Master look like?

Shake the Sugar Tree: Boogie Woogie
I guess we knew I would get to this topic eventually. As I was reflecting on what to write on tonight I thought why not just get it out on the table because I am constantly in this spot. Topping from the bottom. A good submissive is one who submits to her Master’s leadership and authority in all areas of her life. But sometimes she may say this while still trying to top from the bottom or taking the lead when it has not been given to her.

Shake the Sugar Tree: Facial Expressions
Thoughts to ponder:
When your Master comes to you, do you have a “yes” face that says,

Label: Shake the Sugar Tree
"Shake the Sugar Tree" is the title of a country music song written by Chapin Hartord. It was recorded by American singer Pam Tillis on her 1992 album Homeward Looking Angel, from which it was released in 1992 as the album's lead-off single. "Shake the Sugar Tree" became Tillis' fourth Top Ten country hit, peaking at #3 on Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs).*
In the song, a wife admonishes her husband for taking her and their relationship for granted too often, only responding when she complains ("You're like fruit from a fickle vine, 'you turn sweet in the nick of time / Love, you only come alive when you're losin' me") and concluding that sometimes she has to "shake the sugar tree" in order to "feel his love come falling all around [her]".
